I have an arowana fish , they are pretty expensive and prehistoric. they bring good luck and make great pets .but the problem is that they get big , and they eat alot , before i has the arownan i had 5 pacu then i gave them to my japanese to make his addtion to his pond but they died , before i had them i had cichlids that kept attacking eachother so i traded them to the aquarium witch they gave me 5 bucks for them , good time because the store was trying to get rid of some of the fish do they gave me 5 pacu that were 5 - 6 inches for them . before that i had a 60 gallon tank that was filled with , goldfish , carp , plecostomus , catfish , crawfish , green sunfish , tilapia , but I gave them all to my japanese friend again . before that i just had goldfish and koi but they died , but before that my dad raised arowana , witch was a really hard job because he did'nt think before he brought them .

That's cool that mollies can go with betas. I really like mollies but thought because of their fin length that they wouldn't get along. I love tetras too. I had those before when I was a kid.

Hey Maehem, it sounds like you had a beautiful setup. Do you still have it?
I was looking in this magazine at the different plants that you can get. Oh, some of the colors. First I want to read up on what plants are beneficial to certain fish. I've heard that some underwater plants have medicinal properties to them and can contribute to the health and life span of your fish. They also can prevent diseases, but I have no idea which ones. Unfortunately, no.. had to leave the setup in B.C. when we moved, international border/quarantine and all, since then we just haven't had a permanent enough home to set up similar again, fiance's work moves us around alot.

As for the plants, I seem to remember hearing something about medicial properties of plants, but I can't remember where or what... all plants reduce disease to some extent by keeping the water more balanced. I will have to look into that.
I typo, therefore I edit.

Maehem- I'm so worried about having to leave all my plants behind (or mail em' all to you guys) when we make our big move. I wouldn't want to leave my fish or my plants. I think of them as my other children.
I saw on this video koi practically jumping out of the water to get food that someone had put on the edge of their pond. It was on the video that came with our tank. There are so amazing.
My betta will eat blood worms out of my hand. I love that aggro little fish. He is just so unfriendly and cute. He is constantly trying to attack himself and everything else for that matter.

don't get rid of your fish or your plants! I tansported my fish in a small stirofome (sp?) container and at every hotel I brought them in and pluged my air pump in and airated them (at this time of year you would have to get one of those things that you plug in to the cigarete lighter and convertes the heat to two outlets.) for your plants I would put the plants in a styrofome (sp?) container an put that popcorn stuff around the pots so they don't shift around. For the hot house plants I don't know what to do. maybe it is still hot enough for them? if you are flying to your new house, you could ship the plants like **********? but for the fish I don't know. ask how petsmart ships their fish. Hope I could help.
