55 gallon is great for small plants and an infirmary. You can comfirtably fit three double banks of t8 lights on top. Dex is absolutely right though. Neps are all vines in the end and to get the pitchers we all move they require some room. Unless you custom build you will quickly run
Out of room. They are great for mini orchids though along with the seedlings and things.

Well I'm probably going to pick it up this weekend. I do have plans to make a custom chamber eventually.

I have a 10 gallon standard terrarium setup, so you'll be in better shape than I. Lol. But like others have said, the plants will eventually outgrow any terrarium and even some greenhouses.

I think you can make a terrarium pretty much out of any fish tank. Here is my recent addition a self watering 10g terraium:

And this is how it looks like when it turns on (I have since removed the moss)

I'm planning on using a 55 gallon to grow intermediates and small lowlanders (N. bellii, campanulata, gracilis). There are going to be a lot of orchids and bromeliads in there.

dsrtfox, well I am hoping some of my plants will get huge. I'd like that.

gill_za, wow I love your stuff. You make such awesome inventions. That PVC watering system is so nice. And you keep the water level that deep for what, humidity?

Wireman, gracialis is small? I just got one with the hopes it would turn into a huge vine.

    Thagirion,

This kind of a setup was first shown here by GrowinOld, and then I believe Kyle adopted it for a smaller terrarium. I had A LOT of help from GrowinOld in setting up this small one. So ALL credit goes to him!

I thought this picture was rather fitting..

Does anyone have any Nepenthes argentii x [(hamata x villosa) x (edwardsiana x hamata)]? I'm willing to trade for a mature flowering-size Drosera capensis.

I picked up my tank today. Got it used from a guy that kept snakes in it. Got it for $25.

My new 55 gallon terrarium by Thagirion3, on Flickr

Needs a little cleaning. I have some egg carton that's perfect for the bottom. Still no ideas for design set up yet. You can see my current terrarium in the background sort of.

Almost forgot. He also gave me a cool custom made lid with metal screening so I can put lights on it.

Sweet! Looks like a nice terrarium. Almost identical to mine. In fact I think we are using the same one. Mine is more dilapidated though...
