Wow, Joseph - what an ordeal! I would be really intimidated by this kind of situation. If anybody can bring them back, though, I bet it's you. I can't think of anybody else offhand who I would go to for advice on Pings. Some of those pictures are really remarkable - even in neglect, you've got a way with this genus. My Pings seem to fare worse even when I'm taking care of them.
I'm glad to hear that your wife is doing better. She's lucky to have someone so dedicated.
