a confused flower stalk

My D. venusta "coccicaulis" is sending down a flowerstalk!

I took this pic a few days ago and have since uncovered the scape. It is currently trying to move my D. admirabilis out of the way, but it is headed up now.
 
Apparently Iowa has microgravity spells.
 
I had a dielsiana which was doing the same thing, flower came out towards the ground but after an inch it turned around and starting going up.
 
How that scape forms is often diagnostic for ID'ing this genera. That curved habit is often typical for the South African species
