Is there something (else) alive in here?

Lopsided growth may or may not be cause for concern, however in this case:

Drosera macrophylla
ssp macrophylla "Wongan Hills, WA"

Is it another tuber bursting forth or a graboid? Dare I try a little exploratory surgery?

Interesting. Sometimes stuff like that happens in my houseplant pots - usually turns out to be mushrooms. This mystery must be solved... For science!

Haha, nice tremors reference.

This time of year the tuberous Drosera will be digging down into the pot to form a tuber. If the underground stem hits something or has a difficult time burrowing it will sometimes bend and push the top part out of the pot. I am guessing this is what is going on.
