Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa yyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyy !!!!!!!!

:boogie:

Today was my best day so far in growing CP's! :D I received two prime condition sundews from the Flytrap Shop! I only ordered one, but apparently when I got it I saw that there were actually two of them, just growing closely side by side...Boy am I lucky! lol

Here they are...

<a href="http://s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee112/faraphx234/?action=view&current=Picture022.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee112/faraphx234/Picture022.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

One of them had a flower stalk but unfortunately it got damaged during shipping.

<a href="http://s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee112/faraphx234/?action=view&current=Picture021.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee112/faraphx234/Picture021.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Plus I successfully propagated my FIRST root cutting from a long lost Cape that was alive during my MEGA newbie days...(look for the tiny green spots in the middle of the photos)

<a href="http://s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee112/faraphx234/?action=view&current=Picture019.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee112/faraphx234/Picture019.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s235.photobucket.com/albums/ee112/faraphx234/?action=view&current=Picture020.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee112/faraphx234/Picture020.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Now if I can only keep them alive for a month, they'll be just fine :)

Looks good Peace. Don't worry, capensis flowers prolifically. I cut mine off only to have another stalk appear a few weeks later. If you don't mind, what are your growing conditions? I ask because Drosera capensis will adapt very well to many different conditions.

It's always a great surprise when I realize something I sent out a few days ago is someone from the forum ;) I see you transplanted out the 2 plants I sent you, why do you say the flower is damaged? It looks good to me from your pictures. ???
Andrew

Yaaaaaayyyyyy! Congratulations. :) Getting new plants is always fun. Lol.

You'll note that in the picture of the 2 actual plants the flower stalk is missing -- I'm guessing it got squished? :D

I see the flower stalk on the left of the left plant... with the buds located at the end of the stalk. ...I'm pretty sure. ??? LOL

That's gotta be the longest thread title I've seen in a while, lol.

Congrats on your find.

LOL I had to put spaces in it because when it showed up in the chatbox it took made that side take up half the page! :0o:

Well Baylor, I just got them yesterday and put the plants in a six-inch pot with a peat, sand, LFS mix with a top dressing of LFS. They grow five inches under two 100w standard fluorescent bulbs. Humidity stays between 40-70% and temps range from 78-83 degrees.

And the reason I said the flower stalk was damaged Andy was because the stalk was all bent; but the flowers themselves are fine.

Today the plants are doing alright. No dew yet but I hope by the time the weekend comes, at least some of the leaves will have it.

Hmm.. the bend out from the plant at the bottom, and the spin on the top is totally normal. As the flowers start to open, you will see the flower stalk straighten out. I looked to find another that was at about the same stage and only found on in one of my VFT trays that is still pretty dormant... You can see how it is shaped just like yours, providing conditions are good.. I'd expect it to flower just fine for you :) Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic at night ???

Your pic of the flower stalk is almost exactly like mine. I see the flowers increasing in size and the stalk is slowly straightening out. Good to hear there's nothing wrong with the flowers.

Soon I'll have way more Capes! :D

Just one question though. After the flowers close, how long will it take for the seed pod to form and mature? I want to harvest the seed at the right time so I don't end up with 'dews in my VFT and other Cape pot.

Here's a picture I took a few days ago, of one initiating a scape:
