What are these yellow globs for?

I was doing some research today on D. hartmeyerorum and I noticed the yellow glands on it that the plant has. So far I've not been able to find anyone that knows what they are for or what they do. I thought it would be interesting just to see what your ideas are as far as the use/purpose of these on the plant?

Here is a picture of the glands.

LOL! That's to distinguish them from D. indica!

Good answer Jim, at least-good as it gets. No one has come up with a better one.

Siegfried Hartmeyer posted this excerpt from his "Snap Tentacles and Runway Lights" DVD on YouTube (forward to 2:05):

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_TkGTiqkDlY&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_TkGTiqkDlY&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Note: The full DVD at one time was available as a Torrent download (placed there by S. Hartmeyer). You can find the entire video on YouTube but I don't know if it was posted with permission.
