Pollinating D. adelae

Today, 2 of my D adelae flowers have opened.

Should I try to pollinate them with a paintbrush or something? We had a short little section in Advanced science on plant parts, so I think I know where to put the pollen.

Would it be possible to obtain pollen from another plant(different clone) and pollinate mine?

I have pollinated plants and had (very little) seeds set. It seemed you need to cross an old and young flower to get any seed set. I had a number of spikes so I simply rubbed some flowers together. Be very carefull as the spikes will bruise and die very easily. Idealy use different clones but as these are usualy grown from cuttings different clones are very hard to come by.

Would using a paintbrush to transfer pollen work? It seems like that would be less harmful to the flower than rubbing em.

After all, I've only got one spike. The count is now 3 flowers.
