Leaf cuttings

I am thinking about doing a leaf cutting to produce another plant, and I had got to thinking.........and was wondering if it actually had to be cut at all. Could you simply cover a low leaf slightly with some soil? I think I read that plantlets grow from the side of the leaf with dew. I could be wrong on that......but if that was true, it seems like just covering the end of it would do the trick.....but I suppose it wouldn't really make much difference anyway, because you would have a new plant from that leaf, and the leaf would probably die off anyway after that.

Hmmm.......well, it is late.......but I thought I would share that thought and see if anyone has tried that.
