Drosophyllum

Hello, It's been a while since I posted. I would like to know if the Dewy Pine can be grown outdoors in Temecula, Southern California. I would say my climate is an intermediate between desert and mediteranean. I do get intense sun here with low humidity, but I heard the Dewy Pine has a rep for favoring dryness. On average, it rains about 14 inches here from November-May. Days with 100 degrees F heat and 5% humidity punctuates the summer seasons and in the event of an offshore wind. Here is a chart of my climate for your comments:

An alternative would be to grow them on my windowsill wich gets enough sun for peppers, pitchers, pygmies, and many other cp's. Will this be enough sun for the dewy pine?

I have never tried Drosophyllum before. I know they can grow outside in san jose, but i don't know where your town is. BTW, if you ever get seed, send me a plant. i don't want to pay $60 at California Carnivores.

If Elgecko doesn't catch this post, ya might want to send him a PM. He has this plant.

uglypho, I live in Burbank, CA and grow one drosophyllum outside, underneath the balcony. In the summer, it got sun from 3-7pm and did great. Though, I have the addition of morning fog at times. Other than that, our conditions are very similar. In your case, I would put it in some semi-shade until it gets used to harsher conditions. Mist it every couple of days. I give mine about half a cup of water every week.

It would probably do fine in your windowsill as well, just make sure to avoid overwatering it ;)
