Made a mistake - bought a sarracenia

*falls out of chair and rolls around on the floor in that kind of hysterical laughter where no sounds are made, only airy noises*

Why do the filters substitute that phrase for the proper anatomical name?

I can see filtering out the more off-color slang terms...

Quote[/b] (seaecho @ Feb. 05 2005,6:06)]I bought one of those little "domed" 3" pots of Sarracenia purpurea at Lowe's the other day.  I had watched these little plants get drier and deader for WEEKS, and finally broke down and "saved" one.  One of the better looking purpureas.  Well, after researching online, I see that they are happier growing outdoors.  Darn!  I wanted an indoor carnivorous plant! Anyway, I have it on the windowsill and am making a go of it, but can now see a Drosera capensis in my future!  Do any of you grow them indoors?  I read they are pretty tough little customers, and good for a beginner.

I have one on my desk at work.  It is under 24/7 fluorescent lights, and is doing beautifully.

Dude, I want that.

*long pause*

*reads Scott's post again*

...24/7?? Wow, everything I have learned about plants has told me that a nightly period of darkness is just as important as a daily period of light.

Yeah, that's like drinking Mountain Dew, 24/7! It's gonna have serious sleep deprivation!

LOL... wanna know a secret? I set that filter up one day when a idiot was spamming our forums with posts that said nothing but that in the text.

I really thought twice about putting something in there like change p#nis to "I am an idiot" but since the word in itself is not bad, and could come up in legitimate conversation, I didn't.

The reason it STAYS in, is because web bots that search the internet for information love to take stuff out of context and it is a small step to take to keep terraforums (at that point Petflytrap.com) from coming up in porn related searches.

Wow poor person asking advice.

Seaecho got a perfectly good wealth of advice. Then jimscotscoot made an oopsie and we all turned to that for entertainment. And perfectly good entertainment, mind you.

So, if the pitcher plants appreciate dairy, ...do you think they would appreciate a fine, finely diced 3 year old sharp cheddar? Maybe some beaujolais noveau and some french bread, too?  Ouis ouis!  april
