Peat moss is a NO NO unless you can lighten it up with some perlite or orchid bark. Shoot for using pure Sphagnum moss or do a mix of sphagnum moss, peat moss, perlite and orchid bark.
You don't really need to cut it off, I leave mine on and eventually the tendril also dies and it just breaks off. Do the pitchers also photosynthesis?, cause if they do, you should cut off the brown and leave the green, like with sarrencia. As long as it's green, it's stil useful.
