Have a rafflesiana with sorta shorter leaves, pitchers bigger and longer but most intriguing is the visible green leaves still visible extending along the tendril.Does this fella falled into raff.,var.alata ?
Robert, it's similar but it's hard to say whether it is not fully developed or a different variant. Raff var. alata has ruffled wings from the bottom of the tendril most of the way to the leaf. This one seems to have the leaf margins towards the bottom of the tendril...
sydneyneps: well if you look at a pitcture from google it looks as though the leaf margins go pretty far down. the wuestion is for this variety is where do the leaves end and where do wings begin?
from pictures i looked at id say yes it is. but a young one
question to all: does anybody sell this form of rafflesiana??
We see this often on young rafflesiana plants. SydneyNeps is correct. It should have the corkscrew ruffle to qualify as a var. alata.
Anyone know how wide the distribution of var alata is? I thought it was confined to the east coast of Sabah.?
