    Question a nepenthes newbie...again

well today i found this beatufil lil nursey with tons of cp's....man i hit the gold, after buying 2 red dragon vft's ,a drosera adelae ,a cape sundew ,and a sarracenia X UNC hybrid i finally swolloed my fear and bought my first nep., a judith finn. i was wondering if it was okay to grow this inside with no kind of greenhouse, just in a hanging basket in front of the window, i did buy a nice spray bottle, on the plant info stick thingy inside the pot it says plant in dappled shade. I repoted it in just dead LFS. My pitchers are 4 inches on average, but they had 3 huge ones with pitchers a foot long!! but it cost $49.99 ...any help would be much needed

    Congrats!

You do not need a greenhouse.

Spraying the plant periodically won't do much to raise the local humidity. For me, the easiest way is to put large open trays of water around the plant. That usually raises it to around 40 or 50% humidity.

Try to give it as much light as you can.

    N. x Judith Finn is a very adaptable plant. It will grow well by most windows. Don't waste your time spraying the plant, it won't help it at all in the long run. However, if it helps you build a bond or relationship with the plant, by all means do it! Welcome to Nepenthes; betcha can't have just one.

    Hello from Canada

    Hi all,
I am a nepenthes newbie from B.C. I built a 40 gallon terrarium last month
and currently have a collection of bromeliads.I have been doing a lot of research
and really like the lowland tropicals,so thought I would start here.
I'd like to post a photo, but don't see an attatchment icon?

upload your photos to a web hosting site like photobucket and then copy the code into your message

50 bucks for a judith finn is kind of steep, but if it is a really big one I guess that's okay. Good luck with it!

That looks great. What are the conditions? If lowland, you could try some of the smaller lowland neps, such as n. belli. The lowlanders tend to grow quickly and would outgrow your tank. But sticking with the smaller ones would be an option.

If the conditions are intermediate, you could do ok with some heli's. Those would fit right in. Heterodoxa x minor would work. Also many more neps would become options as well.
