Should I cut?

DavyJones

Is ready to take this hobby to a whole new level
I asked this question a couple months ago about the plant in question, but I feel the situation has changed, so I'm asking it again. The plant in question is an N. Velvet that has been in my possession for over a year now. It is/was a rooted cutting. Before, I was thinking it was just getting long and lanky, and wanted to do a cutting in order to shorten it up a bit. Apparently it was not long enough.

Now it has a activated node of decent size forming, about two nodes up from the base. There are around 12 or 13 leaves in total on this plant, but it is rather crooked after some failed attempts to make basals. You can see the plant here...

After reading around, I think that now that the plant has an activated node, now might be a safe time to try a cutting before the new node gets overly huge. I just wanted to hear other peoples opinions on this, since I have never attempted a cutting before.

I'd cut it just above the last active basal about half way in between it and the next node above it. Other than that should be fine as it appears to be quite healthy.

May I ask what those lovely red pitchers belong to in the back ground?

One of my favorite plants, besides my N. Burbidgeae, which hasn't pitchered yet. (Has the burgundy colored leaves in the picture)
