Little Truncata Pasian Showing Promise

DrWurm

Californian in DC
I picked this upo off of nepenthesmatt at a LACPS meeting a few months ago, and I'm glad I did. Check out this little bugger. I took it for a walk today and it looked so good in the sun, I just had to snap some pics. It's in a 4 inch pot for reference. Judging by the great coloration on these little immature pitchers, I can't wait for the full grown. Feel free to post some pics of your Pasians too. I grow this one about 5 inches from a 4 bulb T8 fixture.

Very nice looking N.Truncata to the both of you I can't wait to see them grown up. =)

Looks like Wurm and I have similar size plants, SKs gives me something to shoot for :p

If I remember BigBella just posted one not too long ago, also a very nice size.

nice one frenchy :)
Defenantly cant wait to see these plants get to maturity....Gonna be hard to compete with in the pasian group if they maintain their dark color if i do say so myself

Since the Truncata has those odd-shaped squarish leaves, does the adult plant stay on the small size and remain compact? Is this Nep a good candidate for a limited grow space?

thanks,

I think all Truncatas eventually get pretty large, but as seedlings they dont take up much room :D
The leaves dont get long like a bical or rafflesiana but the small square leaves becomes large square leaves and do get pretty wide eventually. The pitchers are the main concern though, they can get to 24 inches tall!

truncata is definetly NOT a plant for a grower with limited space. These things are beasts, beasts of the east! :) Like every other nep, they'd do good for a little but quickly out grow a small space. And besides, who grows N. truncata to be SMALL?! thats like, capital punishment! :D

Looking at all these pretty lil babies makes me remeber that i need to get one lol! While i love my LL truncs, they're blown out of the water by these guys when it comes to color. Very nice guys!

Aah... Jealousy. :D I almost got this plant...Oh well. They all look great. Kris, yours has certainly put on size.

Ill stand and point at the fertilizers man. For a reference, the pot it is in in my photo is a 3 1/2 inch pot. The plant is picking up speed with the warmer weather, and was growing right next to my villosa over the winter, enduring true ultrahighland conditions.....didn't phase the damn thing at all.

Mine is starting to take shape... Definitely a slow plant.

Here's one of mine.

It gets noticably bigger with every leaf. 2 years ago this was just 3 inches across.

Here is a shot of 2 of my friends largest pasian highland truncatas...The pitcher you can pretty clearly see on the right was a wee bit bigger than a 2 liter bottle.

Wow!

Well, those definitely would get too big for my growrack....I'll pass on the Truncata then, though I do like the their leaf shape. ;)
