Peristome nectar crystallizing

The nectar on the upper pitchers of my nepenthes velvet is crystallizing in lumps over the peristome. The nectar is is not dry however. The crystallized nectar is saturated with what appears to be a new layer of soft nectar. The crystallized nectar is flaky and completely translucent like the normal soft nectar. My camera battery is charging right now. I will try and take pics later.

I don't drink alcohol. But I've been to Mexican restaurants with my aunt who does many times.
My nepenthes looks like this margarita, the rim of the glass being the peristome.

I've seen Sarracenia do this, but never Nepenthes.

My bicalcarata used to crystallize like that too. It tastes just as good either way! Crystal was nice though, it would melt in my mouth. Ahhhh...
