    Nepenthes IDs, with a twist!

    Hey guys,

I'm doing my Modern Art History paper on Marianne North's paintings of carnivorous plants. It's proving to be quite the challenge, as she never dated any of her paintings. I can tell the general order by the technical changes, but that's not what I need help with.

I now some of you can distinguish species rather easily, so I'm asking you to help me ID some of the Neps that she painted. So, here we go!

This was painted in Sarawak, Borneo. I'm thinking their either N. mirabilis, gracilis

This one is from Java, so it's either N. gymnamphora or N. mirabilis
    http://www.kew.org/mng/gallery/662.html

And this one has a small Utricularia flower on the bottom left. If anyone can ID this one you;re my hero.

    Thanks for the help!

The second one I definitely agree looks like N. gymnaphora.

The first one.... I want to say gracilis personally.

The Utricularia flower.. well that's pretty much impossible without a location of the painting, and even then....

I think it's definitely N. gymnamphora. The leaf-to-pitcher size is pretty indicative.

I forgot to mention, the Utric painting was done in Darjeeling, India.

I would definitely take Kentosaurs' word over mine. I don't know much or anything at all about either gracilis or mirabilis.

1st looks like mirabilis. gracilis has a very thin persitome.
2nd definitely looks like gymnaphora. color and shape fits.
I don't ID flowers so no guess on the utric.
    Peace,

I'll just say it's an unidentified Utric. If you think those are good you should see her painting of N. reinwardtiana and northiana.
