Indoor terrarium in air conditioned room. White paper surrounding terrarium to keep light inside. 125watt CFL. 16 hour photoperiod. Temperature during day is between 85F and 90F. Night time temps are probably in 70s. Nepenthes ampullaria is growing great next to it.

Well here's a pure Campanulata for you:

N_Campanulata2.jpg

It's (they're) still very small, only one tiny pitcher.

Is it growing in water?

I find that campanulata roots well in water/live sphagnum mixture

Here's that cutting, potted in LFS

This is the original root system with basals, growing in perlite/pumice/akadama mix

Oh wow your campy's red?!

  • #65
Yes, the upper half of the pitcher is red inside. :)

  • #66
Wow that's an incredible campy hardy! Beautiful specimen. I may have to try campy with my conditions sometime.

Yes, the upper half of the pitcher is red inside. :)

Is it a seedgrown plant, or someone's clone (E.g. BE, MT, etc.)? Also, my sister lives near Taipei :) Small world..

Thanks, Heli.

Thez, I got it as an unrooted cutting, from a vendor at the flower market, who sourced it from a hobbyist guy. That's about as much as I know about this guy's origin, lol.
Having said that, a guy here bought a campy from MT and it turned out to be a red clone, different from mine, I think (thicker peristome):

Then there's another guy who has a teeeny clone:

The clone that I have is the commonest of the red clones here, since a number of people grow the same thing :)
Cool! Is your sister a plant lover too? Small word indeed! ^^

Wow, nice! I guess I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for MT clones. My sister currently is working on tending her baby and her cat, so I'm not sure if she has any plants. I should ask though, because she likes going to the markets, and I imagine the flower markets there are gorgeous!

Cool!
Yes, the Jianguo flower market in Taipei is huge. There are 120 something stalls selling all sorts of plants and supplies.

And here's a link to a campy thread in a Taiwanese forum. (Well since this is an appreciation thread, I thought it would be quite appropriate to link something similar :p)

It's all in Chinese, but if you leaf thru the 36 pages, there are lots of photos so you would see the dedication of the grower :)

One day, I'm going to land myself a pure campy. Great specimen, hardy! :)

  • #72
Cool, thanks hardy :)

Everyone who complimented my plants: thank you very much :) Labor of love actually

OK, I wish I had more neps to post, but this is the only nep I have for now. So here's my campanulata again......

I feed it regularly with this

Somewhat pricey fish food pellets, but it is really great stuff, since it is designed not to foul the aquarium water (discus fish is very particular about water quality).
When I feed my nep with this stuff, I find that it won't foul the pitcher fluid as well :)

now that's an impressive plant.

  • #75
That's a gorgeous Camp!

  • #76
Love this plant. It's edged it's way onto my want list :)

  • #77
Impressive! I've never seen that much color on a Camp.

  • #78
Thanks for your kind comments :)

  • #79
Oh man, that's such a nice campanulata! :hail:

Oh man, that's such a nice campanulata! :hail:

....and an easy to grow one too! Well I find it pretty much trouble free :)

Two years ago the plant got lanky, and I decapitated it to make more copies.

Practically each node sprouted a side-shoot (there were 15 small shoots in total!)

But it wasn't meant to be...

IMG_0138.jpg

Only 3 of the 15 sideshoots survived. It could be competition, but I blame it primarily to neglect.

Ah... But then, just when I almost give up hope of my campanulata flowering (almost 4 yrs' wait...), look what I found yesterday!

IMG_2515.jpg

Now I want to find it a mate :)
