So, here's a brief follow up to the tale of the sex-changing N. vogelii. I pollinated this "female" several weeks ago, and although at first it appeared the pollen had not prompted a response, now I have two spikes of pods that are growing rapidly! With any luck, there are viable embryos forming in there!
The pollen parent was my other clone of vogellii, by the way.
