Pitcher of the Month contest: March 2012

  • #61
Holy crap a hairy red hammy.

(thud) just pulled myself off the floor. Stunning

I definitely think that's a separate species or subspecies now. Just incredible!

Nepenthes hamata "hairy red" (nectar glands visible between peiristome teeth):

That guy! Irresistable!

Haha...as if it wasn't already an adept enough predator, having the additional strategically placed nectar glands between the chutes leading to the processing plant...

...makes this hunting plant so supremely efficient, its prey really has little choice but to just go all in!

OK, the rest of us can all go home now! lol
PS: just you wait till my glorious "Hairy Ventrata" comes of age!!! Nyuk.

Those photos of the red hamata are so much better than the default one that was on the websites of the vendors. When I saw that other pic my reaction was "That's ugly and not worth THAT price". I still don't think it's worth what some places had it going for, but now it looks very nice to see a different view of it. The yellow really helps make this look good and the glands add character.

Hi Brokken, that's a beautiful specimen of N. ventricosa x xTrusmadiensis. Not meaning to be a party spoiler, but I think you entered your post of another plant earlier on in page 5?

  • #74
I don't know how I forget to check here often. This thread is Insane!

 Brokken. . . I know it seems like this month has been going on forever... :-))

  • #76
I love the simple gourd shape of ventricosa and ventricosa crosses.

  • #78
 Classic Brokken. So which would you like to vote off the island? Your plant, or your plant?

Last week to get those entries in. We've got a good month going, let's keep up the intensity with some last minute additions. :awesome:

  • #79
My only mature plant that meets the requirements, aaaaaaaaaand coming in in dead last... it's N. Ventricosa x Ramispina
