strange ant behaviour

With some species that is a danger/alarm signal. Perhaps it is responding to the alarm pheromones of another ant trapped in the pitcher?
 
That's what it looks like since it's stinging the pitcher.
 
Thanks for the reply. I will be more observant when i made another visit.
