Nepenthes attenboroughii seeds germinated!

  • #81
Wow great job guys!

Congrats to everyone's success!

I have a total of 7 germinated and 3 of them have left the seed shells! I left the pot in about an inch of standing water while I was away in Spain and they seem to have liked it.
I have a couple that are struggling to exit the seed casing and only have their root tips showing for the past 2 weeks. Looks like I'm going to lose those... :(

Here's an update on how they are doing in vitro:

Getting a lot of germination here. . . counted about 30 seedlings. The first cotyledons are opening.

I'm hoping so... Unfortunately, I'm still new to the art of micropropagation. Just getting lucky...

No signs of the others germinating. Once the first few of your Nepenthes seeds began to germinate, how long did it take for the rest to follow suit? ???

Man I can't wait till I get my hands on that!

Just you wait,I will.:)

Most of mine germinated within the first 2 weeks but I'm still seeing 1 or 2 germinate after a month and a half of the first one.

Okay, thanks! I found out that they had germinated two days ago and I'm not seeing much progress. I guess I'll just cover up the glass so I won't peek and wait a few more months and be impressed. :p

For clarification, I meant that most germinated within 2 weeks AFTER I first observed germination.

Oooh, okay. Makes sense now lol. I was thinking, "Wow, 2 weeks! He must be Chuck Norris!" So I feel better about my seeds now lol. Thank you! :awesome:

I've got 11, possibly 12 now. The oldest ones are showing signs of their first pitcher developing.

The growth rate seems to vary a lot with the seedlings.
