Marc, where did you get the maxima X spectabilis cross from? It's very appealing!
I see you are going to win the race to "first upper" on the lowii X spectabilis hybrid, but I just might make second place ;-)
    Wonderful photos, as always.

Thank you Paul! Ive been super keen to finally see some uppers on N. Lowii x Spect! Hopefully the next two/three pitchers will live up the hype!

    N. Maxima x Spectabilis is a really old EP hybrid, I've had it for years. As you would expect, extremely easy grower and very appealing, there's about a dozen pitchers on the plant now at different stages and the colour as they age is just astounding, especially on the intermediates, just as they're about to surrender the wings. I'll take some more photos to prove the point.

I know it's definately in circulation in US, because mine is a female and probably is the same clone that was used in this stunning cross http://pitcherplants.proboards.com/t...s-jacquelineae
So I'm guessing Joel has a mature plant, and judging from the amount of basals and how easily it vines I'm sure you'd be able to score a cutting. I regretfully cut mine back when it hit the 2metre mark and in just a years growth it's now 3+metres

That lowii x campy is fantastically odd.....
Everything has a reason, whether big or small. Never underestimate the power of what is or is not.

Thanks hcarlton! lowii has a habit of wonderfully warping the pitchers in it's hybrids, one of the best things about them in my oppinion

This little guy got out of there without harm, but i have found a few of them floating around in pitchers before, especially truncata x ephippiata

Really like that maxima x spectabilis. I noticed you identified it as a female. Have you crossed it with anything?
