Interesting thing to note about this one is the tendrils of the upper pitchers curl in the opposite direction (inwards towards the stem of the plant), and it seems to hold out for months and then simultaneously blow up 2/3 pitchers and the peristome remains flared for the lifespan of the pitcher both on lowers and uppers

It's beautiful. And RED.

N. exotic lady ot talangensis x max

My pictures aren't very good. I used my IPhone. I broke this pitcher a couple of days ago. The curled up kind of hose got caught on it when I was watering :( so, I thought I should get the pictures quickly.
I turned this picture upside down.

Are you sure about its identity? That looks a lot more like N. Gothica to me.

That doesn't look much like x'Gothica' either. x'Gothica' doesn't have that maxima point at the front of the peristome or the heart shaped mouth, it tends to keep the round sibuyanensis shape.

Wingless N. maxima, anyone? The plant produces ordinary winged lower pitchers but this one turned kinda odd.. like it

It was a NOID cutting in the 2012 NASC auction from Lois. When it made the first pitcher I asked her for the ID and that is what she gave me. ???

I have absolutely no objection to it being a POTM contestant (its a very fine pitcher, to be sure!), but I don't see any talangensis influence in that pitcher whatsoever. I really think you have one of the Gothica clones.

You all know more than I do. I never try to guess. Do I need to change the name?

I'd keep the NOID label for the moment, as it has some of the wide shape of 'Gothica', but as Cthulhu138 said, it doesn't have the characteristic peristome I've seen on every picture of that hybrid...... could be a backcross to maxima though...

Coloring up...

The second photo is the entry for the month (both pitchers opened within a day of each other)

Knew it was only a matter of time until a pitopangii made it into the POTM. Looking great so far. Can't wait to see more mature pitchers !
