This is the plant to the upper pitcher

That Alata is awesome!

I grow outside in San Jose, myself. I used to grow indoors but then I ran out of room so everything sits outside, some even in full sun..

Is that flytrap in the same pot as the alata? (BTW the "alata" is actually N. x ventrata, one of the two Nepenthes usually found in garden centers, and is very easy to grow)

Everything in my grow list. I will say that overtime, a 1/2 strength Maxsea solution and 3/4 to full sun has been great. Thanks Rainforestguy. It's the reason I haven't been online in three years, it's just because things have been chugging along great.

Also sometimes a Nepenthes will abort a pitcher if it experiences a climate or nutrition spring. Just make sure your water is clean, you don't water too much or too little, and to not move your plant around too much. Nepenthes I've found like it really boring and they acclimate to almost any environment given their light needs are met. You have an Alata which is probably the hardest Nepenthes there is to kill. I have one climbing the tree that I'm pretty sure my grandma has been hose watering when I'm away on vacation or when I'm not home in the day for the last 5 years. One aborted pitcher is no need for concern, just leave them be, water, and consider a 1/4-1/2 strength feed during the growing season to get strong gains. I've resorted to taking cuttings and giving away plants to friends.. my Deroose Alata has been chopped up about 4 times already. It somehow memorizes it's desire to grow!
