Both N. tobaica and N. sanguinea are related to N. reinwardtiana ( especially N. tobaica) and can have eyespots. They can easily pass them down into hybrids.

Eric, how low is your humidity?
I have them as a houseplant with humidity normally below 50%. I use the tray method though so maybe that gives it enough moisture in the air.
