I feed mine with crickets.
Every time a new pitcher opes I put a cricket or 2 in it. Probably up to 4-5 when they get large enough.
I sometimes give them meal worms to.
I dont use chemical fertilizers.

Well, I can tell you that my S. purpurea catches a TON of bugs during summer, believe it or not. It catches wasps, flies, and llittle rolly polly bugs. (It also smells like crud after a while.)

Hmmm....selcon. That's a marine fish food.

Dunno if it'll work. Might as well try. The only kind of fish food I ever used was Nutrafin Max Complete Flake Food; "For All Tropical Fish". My cape sundew loves 'em.

Has any one tried fish emulsion? I have read in the past that people have put fish (guppies feeder fish) in their pitcher. Has any one tried this?
I am going to try milk.
What about kio color enhancer food?

With the discussions on whether to fertilize or what can be fed to plants starting to pop up again, I thought a review of this topic and adding to it instead starting more seperate topics on the same thing might be best.

Hey all, speaking of fertilization, I did an experiment with my ventricosa seedlings. My friend has some seedlings from the same batch, and his are about 3" in diameter after 2.5 years. Mine are 5 or 6" in diameter - I added the fertilizer in Oct. of last year when they were about 2 or 3 inches across*.

*These measurements are guestimates from my memory.
