Fungus on peristome

Hi Everyone

I recently have been noticing that on the humid nights, fungus would develop on the peristome (lip) on my Coccina.  I try to spray it off but it keeps on comming back.

What Should I do to get rid of the fungus on the peristome(lip)?

Hi Len,
The fungus I believe you're talking about is black sooty mold, and it grows around the peristome because of sugar secretions from the plant. Gently wipe it off, and administer a systemic fungicide. The plant will absorb it thru the roots and help the situation. You can never get rid of it completely, it just seems to come and go with the seasons, and right now south Florida is having some really wet weather.
Hope this helps.
Trent
