N. eymae

Hi,

my plants doesn't look as impressive as those of Josh or Dustin at the moment, but I thought I'd share another new one.

This is the first pitcher of a N. eymae I rescued from local garden center after watching it sitting there for more than two months time...

That's pretty nice right there!
What kinda "garden centers" have you got over there? If you can find a Ventrata or Coccinea around here it's like "wow look they have exotic plants"! How big is that N. eymae and pitcher?

Hi Josh,

the pitcher is around 10cm in height. Thomas Carow's nursery is specialised in CP and they sell their standard program through DIY stores and garden centers (I hope it is OK to mention Thomas, Petflytrap is not on the german market AFAIK). It was the first time I saw N. eymae, but hairy N. truncata are available quite often and N. maxima and N. singalana can always be bought.

(I rescued this plant in horrible conditions last winter for around 5E~5$US...)

It is always funny to see you guys in the US looking for Cephalotus or S. oreophila, both are very easily availabe here in Germany.

Cheers Joachim

A Cephalotus in a gardening center? HA! Just goes to show which country is being run better. lol

Great snag Joachim! If I found one of those in my local Lowe's heck that'd be an omen!

Joachim forgot to the mention the Heliamphora we can buy there, too...and the Utricularia alpina, the Byblis liniflora, filifolia...and so on.

Joachim,

Is the "hairy" form of trucata the highland form? It sure looks like it by the color. And you got it for $5?

Regards,

Joe

Hi Joe,

yes, it is similar to the highland form. The plants sold here have red pitchers, not black like those from Rob. They also look somewhat different to the pictures I've seen on Tony's HP. Benjamin has some more pics of this clone on his page:

Wow! I've been growing my 2.5 cm plantlet N. eymaes from Wistuba since last December and they are no where near that developed yet.
And five bucks?!

Ha... 5 bucks for plants like those. Dang man. I knew wistuba sold hairy truncata, but they were 20 some dollars, and I had no idea they were so similar to the 100 dollar plus highland truncata

Hi,

it seems my posts were somewhat confusing. The N. eymae did cost regular 15E. The N. truncata was on its way to the compost heap after many months of regular drying out and insect damage in the garden center. So I asked for a massive price reduction for a plant, which was otherwise unsellable for them.

I have travelled to Germany on 3 occasions and on each one, i have seen plants by Thomas Carow. He is a master in growing cp's. I think the quality of his plants surpasses that of many of his local competitors. It is a shame that he does not export to the U.S.
