One of the many big pitchers, just about 1 ft tall, the top is shriveled so I image it was at least 1 ft.

Nice! I always wonder if my N. maxima x ? #1 "Red" is this hybrid. If it is the same it's a prety fast grower if you give it true lowland conditions. It didn't hardly do anything when i tried a cutting in highland conditions.

No wonder they sold out so fast!

Huh, my N. Miranda looks different from yours, Dustin.

i wish i did'nt spend money on the grab bag sale and the other sales because now i regret that i could get one of these babies , its HUGE

It's in the greenhouse now. Get's hot days in the 80's and recently with the clear days in the 90's. In the chamber inm the ghouse it gets 90 easily for the 2 experimental lowlands. in there (N. merrilliana and N. mirabilis). It's a brute through and through, the stems are emorous on these...about 1 inch in diameter, too bad we couldn't get a photo of the parents!

N. truncata is rivaling the stem thickness...think it may have to grow faster

Eric, your plant is a little smaller, give it soem time to get big.

One of the parents is N. Mixta, which is a brute too. It's interesting how size of plants are affected by ancestry. You would think the maxima female of N. Miranda would scale down the size a bit from the monster sized N. Mixta. I've seen hybrids with N. bellii that were huge-it's like the small size of the bellii was completely recessive. In fact, the pitchers on one plant were bigger than either parent-in this case, bellii x veitchii.

How big does this miranda hybrid get Trent....I still am staring at it when I walk in the greenhouse! lol With the northiana parentage I'm guessing really bulky with very large pitchers.

Once they get up to size, the pitchers can be up to a foot long. The leaves about 20 inches....and then the ground shoots start...

I'm not sure if they are coming back. They are very nice plants. I belive the website had it listed as 27.99 but I'm not sure on that. It was around 30.00 a plant. N. miranda is a lowlanders/intermediate due to it's 2/3 parentage of N. maxima.
