Thread: Tendrils and pitchers

Now, this may vary from plant to plant, and species to species, but after spending years with nepenthes I have finally come to the conclusion that there is a specific pitcher to tendril size ration. That is to say, the size of the pitcher is always perportionate to the length of the tendril. Now again, the ratio might vary between plants and conditions, but species like N. burbidgaea, and N. spathulata have a ratio of 1:1 . My N. lowii is about (pitcher) 2:3 (tendril) . If you look at the next few pitchers your nepenthes produce, you should be able to pedict the sizes of your next pitchers! I thought it was kind of neat...

that would be a 4:1. but it would be cool if the pitchers reached the tendril length. then you could feed it monkeys.
