I like the N. truncata highland! You don't see many of those around!

Hehe Dustin,
That's funny. Just recently I requested a talangensis as well. It had to have been before you! But, are you sure those are the giant form of the Ceph? I ordered that same stock from him about a year ago, and mine are not near that big... Also, can you please let me know which plants are actually for sale?
             Thanks!!

P.S. Did you snap any pics of N. sp. 2? I am very curious to see a younger plant of that species

Hi guys, thanks for the kind comments on the photos and Tonys growing expertise.

Lithopsman, I think that is a younger seedling of C. follicularus "giant" form from german TC. Also,Tony is a seperate grower, I do not sell the plants and do not know what is or what is not for sale. You would have to contact Tony for clarification.

I did see N. sp. #2 and it looks like a fat tubby striped N. tentaculata to me.

Hey Dustin,
I know that you aren't affiliated in any way, I just figured he might tell you if you are acting interested, he might let you know. As for the sp. 2, I don't quite think I can picture that, but I'll try. *squints and thinks* THANKS!!

Hi Dustin,

this plant looks like a very widespread clone here in Germany (you can see the M typical for this clone in the lid). I believe it is not the 'giant' clone - but I might be wrong of course.

Which of the plants shown did follow you home from Tony#s greenhouse?

Hi Joachim, I'm pretty sure it was labeled "giant form" and thats why I took a photo of it when Tony was giving me some background history on it.

As for new plants to come home with, I added to my collection:

N. clipeata "G. Kelam" the real true plant
U. reinformis "giant form"
and an unknown Nepenthes hybrid that Tony belives is
N. ampullaria "giant" x N. mirabilis.

I am very very happy and excited that I could get N. clipeata from Tony and knowing, it really is it!

I look forward to this summer and how big it will grow from its current size of 3 inches (7.5cm) diameter.

Some details to answer a few questions posed.

The Ceph. giant are from Wistuba. I have a few larger clumps that are starting to produce some more mature pitchers but they are still small compared to what they should be .. These are plants only about a year out of TC so I wouldn't expect much from them at this point. The great majority are still producing tiny little pitchers.

The Heliamphora picture is H. minor Chimanta Tepui.

Wow those are some really nice neps you have. That ventricosa is really red. How many hours under the light? Mine are under the light for 14 hours.

Nice shots Dustin. Tony, your crops are looking good!!! With the low temps being reported up in your area, you must be running the heaters day and night!
I love the pictures that show the greenhouse in the background. You can almost feel the microclimates looking at them.

My favorites this time are the N. talegensis, and the N. truncata. Great stuff as always!

Hi,

Tony, I totally forgot to mention that your plants look great as usual!

I always thought that the cephalotus plants with the M in the lid originated from the same clone - but obviously I was wrong.

In the first two pictures of N. aristolochiodes and N. burbidgeae very red leafes and also some with red blotches can be seen in the background. Do you know what causes this? The leafes of my N. clipeata look similar at the moment and I'm believing that the cold temperatures cause this color.

Cheers Joachim

Doh on me, I fixed the Heli flower label.

Trent, as for the heaters running, it hasnt be bad for me at least (Tonys kicked on and off a few times in the ghouse) but if we get a good day of full sun, the heating system in my ghouse will not run at all unless the sun gets clouded out or the misting system cools it to the setpoint for heat.

As to your commnet about the greenhouse....

Trent,

Well the sun is warmer now and certainly heats the greenhouse during the day but yes the gas bill is painful when the temps are -30 and the sun doesn't shine.. When I build a new setup INSULATION will be priority.

Joachim,
Thanks for the compliment. Of course you don't see the plants that I manage to kill hehe.

I can't add much on the Cephalotus.. far from my knowledge base. They shouldn't be mislabelled but stranger things have happened.

The red blotching I think is indeed from too cold temperature. With the large variety I have it is difficult to keep them all happy all the time. There are certainly alot of microclimates as Trent mentioned.
