What can I say, Dustin?

Awesome N. Bicalcarta.

Now can we see the overall lowland chamber?
How big is the chamber?
Where is this chambers of yours (house or outside)?

Looks to me like you have the lowland chamber setup inside the greenhouse? Have you got the logistics for winter figured out on keeping everyone where they are?

That's awesome news about the N. hamata! Wasn't Tonys flowering too? Do you guys have the same sex plants or different?

Hey Eric, will get an overview of the whole thing. Its 5 x 5 x 4 feet dimensions. The chamber is inside the greenhouse.

Josh, yup in the ghouse. I figure on using what Tony has employed, heat cables with a thermostat. While the air temp will be relatively cooler, the soil will be warm.

The hamata, I am hoping will be a female.......this way Tony and I can cross them and get some seeds.

Nice! What kind of nep is that one on the bottom rack? OOO hamata seeds are you going to trade them or have a give away on the boards if you get any? I would love to try a hamata......

IceDragon,
I think it's a N. Ampullaria "Spotted" to be exact.

Oh I imagine they will give all the hamata seed to the ICPS seedbank, since nobody in their right mind would want to buy/trade for seedlings(with all the genetic variabiliy that comes with plants produced rom seed) of one of the most popular plants in this subject forum.

Hi icedragon, yes it is amp spotted.

As for the hamata seed.....I do not think I'll be giving any away or trading it for that matter.....besides, knowing my luck the plant will probably be male.

Do you use fluorescent lights for your chamber?
If so , how many?

Hi vistary, I don't use any fluro's at the moment, but in the winter I plan on using at least 2 4 foot fixtures to ligh the way through the coldest months.

Nice! I think you should cross the hamata with one of those! You've seen what hamata does with truncata, think about judith finn and/or rokko!

thats an awesome picture, looks like a very fun plant....

How long did it take for you to grow it to that size?

  • #15
I bought it when it was about 1.5 feet in diameter with no pitchers. Now it's got to be pushing 2.5 feet in diameter or more. I bought it July 02

Yikes! It's going to completely take over my 75 gallon tank!

It will be falling out of the sides before long!

You picked up a plant of that size about a month ago?
