About the Vogelii (which is one of my personal favourites), is that one different than the one I took in this picture:

vogelii_competition.jpg

I prefer the brighter colours in the above picture to be honest. So what's causing the difference? Light levels (If so: more or less sunlight?) or just another variety?

It was not a good day for photos. Although the color is purple. My N. vogelii originated from Malesiana. Whether they have multiple clones or just one, I don't know. Light intensity, daylength, temperature, pitcher age, fertilizer levels, plant age, can make a noticable difference in coloration. It's very hard to know for sure at what stage the plant was photographed. Red and purple tend to take a while to develop and in some plants it is just a steady progression from less intense to more intense coloration. For example the N. boschiana pitcher above has only been open about a week. Here is a picture of the previous pitcher which has been open for multiple months.

It will be interesting to see some of the variety in seed grown N. vogelii plants, but I don't expect a tremendous amount of difference.

Oy, salt in the wound. I received a vogeli from MT(can't remember how long ago was that...a year?), and it arrived with the tip snapped off, and it did not make it

I love these greenhouse pics. Upper NY must be highland Heaven!

I could have sat on the roof. Or maybe the trunk? Possibly an inner tube dragged by a rope behind the car.

Well, i'm in California anyway. I wonder if there was a party at C.A. Carnivores...
