dustin, you are truly talented, hopefully my greenhouse will look somewhere near there once i finish it

very nice plants. i like the ephippiata, is it an easy grower for you? i was told its easier than lowii and just about as spectacular. it and hamata are on my short list of neps to get this year. excellent looking plants, you do good work

Fantastic plants once again Dustin. What have you pollinated the diatas with?

Hamish

In my opinion, ephippiata is faster than lowii, and it has better coloring, but it isn't as physcho in upper pitcher shape.

Yikes! 12:30, what am i doing up?!

Sheridan, N. ephippiata is very easy, it took a while to settle in but once it did, it REALLY took off. I forgot how small it was when I got it! It grows a little bit faster than N. lowii I think.

Hamish, I was waiting for someone to ask that ;) With the generosity and kindness of Tony we have collaborated and have come up with the following, potentially very interesting crosses:

N. diatas x N. hamata
N. diatas x N. argentii
N. diatas x N. copelandii
N. diatas x N. mira

and one more cross that I cannot think of that is on it, there are also a few virgin flowers left up top that I wish to cross with N. veitchii this week.

Tuna, I think N. ephippiata is just about as "physco" in upper pitchers as N. lowii, just slightly bigger.

Nice pics, Dustin! I love that inermis. I'm waiting for mine to take off like that. It's growing, but at a measured rather than frantic pace.

Your hamata is out of control! Lol! You might get served the same notice Ozzy got.....

Dustin, thanks for the info, i may have to order one from Tony this summer after i get married. i cant wait to see what your crosses turn up they look to be quite interesting, good luck with them.

hahah, yet another inermis query;

What sex it is it, is it a female?

  • #12
Age of N. inermis:

Around 2 yrs I'd say, got it as a small rossetted plant about 4-5 inches across.

Sex, no clue.

Dustin,

I wanted to know what sex it because I have a male campanulata that flowers on occasion, and I think a N. inermis x campanulata would be an awesome cross.....

  • #16
That would be neat, not ready to flower yet, but hopefully soon Jess. That would make one helluva hybrid I concur!

man you are a talented grower dustin, i have an inermis almost 2-3" high and about 7-8" around, when should I expect a vine?

Still have a ways to go Kirk. Probably another year I'd say, depending if it is in good conditions.
