N. ampullaria basal pitchers

How can one stimulate production of basal pitchers in N. ampullaria?

how big is your plant Scott? ive heard once it starts vining it will produce them, or if you cut off the main growth point. or they just do it when they feel like it.

Aha!
Scott & I were discussing this...Figured we'd get some more minds involved.

Scott, I thought of something else that I've heard - if there are wet & dry "seasons" for your amp, it may stimulate basal pitchers....I noticed my specled amp made basal pitcher much sooner than my green one, and I keep it dryer (not on purpose, it just happens that way). Might have something to do with it....
thoughts?

basal pitchers "seem" sturdier than the vining ones. so does the foliage. maybe the sturdier tissue helps retain water or something.

just a thought.
