actually, the fluid from some neps has been known to be used as a laxative, an eye wash and a antiseptic to clean out wounds. This of course from unopened pitchers that are about to open so they have the most amount of sterile fluid. It won't hurt you at all. Infact it might even help. I've tasted nector from several of my neps and some are bitter sweet and some are just really sweet with a strange alkaline aftertaste.

Yeah it's used as a sterile eye wash in Indonesia and Borneo.
I have trid it from lots of different Neps and the flavour actually changes depending on the species.
Singalana and eustachya fluid is thin and watery and doesn't have much taste, rafflesiana (at least in Brunei) tastes like cr@p, it's much thicker and has a very herbally taste which I didnt like.
Jacquelineae takes forever to come out of the pitcher and it feels like you're swallowing a raw oyster or a slug.

    Cheers, Troy.
