Yea, I think the little critters are very important to the ecosystem (besides nummy food). My Aldrovanda are growing by leaps and bounds. The traps are alot bigger than I thought they would be too.

I was told that after a while the tank will have have little critters automatically.. however.. I prefer to do things the fast way.. and order some off of eBay. xD

My tank also gets hot... but not THAT hot. That's crazy! When you get the daphnia.. get ready to stare at em for a while cuz they're kinda fun to watch.

I thought so too, but it's buried under a good 5 inches of media and the water turned cloudy overnight. I'm about to leave town and I should get pics.. monday.

You might've stirred some up when you added the water? That happened to me as well except not with clay.. all the sphagnum and some leaves floated to the top. I ended up having to remove it altogether.

    ChronoKiento,

What I did to stop the material from floating:
1.) Scoop it off the surface.
2.) Put the debris in a plastic bag.
    3.) Fill bag with water.
4.) Leave it there for like 3 days.
5.) Put it back in the tank under particles of clay and potting soil.
6.) Tadaaa - it stays put

Hope this helps someone out there....

    It's clear again so... weird.

I just put all of the floating ingredients in and covered by a bunch of aquatic plant soil and nothing floated.
