Two tiny ones! Utricularia uniflora & pubescens Stalks

Last Sunday I pulled cutting pieces off both of these guys to seed various vivaria. Well they must have liked getting plucked.

they must like the disturbance, i just purchased my first one 2 weeks ago and i was suprised that after i potted it, it started to flower soon after.

That's U. uniflora on the right? Those leaves are many times the size of mine! Mine are tiny little buttons - what are you feeding them?

I'm going to set up several species in the aquasoil this weekend (at least - that's the plan) :-O

Yep, uniflora is on the right. They are small, maybe the aquasoil makes them look larger.

I just moved some U. pubescens into the aquasoil on a tank last weekend, hope it takes.

The first one to open up is Utric. pubescens, with uniflora just a few days behind. I guess this made the Utric. blanchetti angry as it is sending up a few stalks now too.

Congrats!

Here is the other one, it opened up a few days ago and I'm just now getting around to it.

What is 'Aquasoil'?

Aquasoil is an aquatic plant medium made in Japan by ADA. I tried some out a while back and have liked the results so far. I've done some very limited testing and it seems that the few Utric's I've tried in the stuff are growing faster than peat/sand. As a bonus it is much more moss resistant. It takes a few months for a pot of Aquasoil to start growing mosses, vs the few weeks for peat/sand in my conditions. A huge plus is you ask me.

Beautiful flowers - thanks for sharing! I thought that the striping was not present on my flowers but when I checked - it was there - just muted. However, the coloration appears different (even though I suspect they are the same clone). Here are the 2 pics together for easy comparison - 1st - your flower:

I read somewhere that Utricularia pubescens may actually have two different types of carnivorous leaves. There is of course the bladder traps, but the upper round leaves are apparently sticky like a butterwort's leaves. It is not known whether the upper leaves produce enzymes.
