While VFT's and and the other genera are pretty obvious, how was it originally determined that bladderworts are carnivorous, seeing has how the activity i below the surface?
well being as the aquatics are fairly easy to find and most have big enough traps that even a less than great microscope can view their action(i think?). im guessing the discovered the tendancy in aquatic species and transfered it over to the terrestrials.
