    Tissue Cultured VFT's

Last weekend I received a jar of TC VFT's, with a link to how to transition them to the real world. It was quite elaborate, with the tools (forceps, scissors,..) Basically, I poured the contents in a spaghetti collander and ran warm water through the plants. I could see numerous small chunks of what I believe to be the culture medium, amid the plant clumps and scattered VFT leaves. I was able to pick and separate plant from medium.

VFT rooting cultures are usually just Jello and part of a multi vitamin pill. Eat away.

    Hey, there's always room for Jello . . .

Are those typical VFTs in the TC vessel that you got? Where did you get them?

Good luck on the deflasking process. I haven't had to do this yet. So far I still have all of my TC work in jars. It might be ready to come out in a few months though.

I have found that TC VFTs received in agar are pretty hardy. I gently wash the mess in water and separate those that come apart easily. I then plant those that are still firmly clumped as a clump. In a few months, individual plants can be more easily separated from the clump and repotted. In this way, very few plantlets die.

Anyway, that is what I do.
