Nice trap! Is that a Jaws VFT?
My venus fly trap site
wow! Very nice trap! Very big... Looks like you have tons of VFT's in the background!
I got a handful of VFT in the mail not too long ago. I ordered "Jaws" but it turned out that some of them were a different unknown cultivar. The plant in the foreground is most certainly jaws though.
There are flytraps that are selling from a nursery that are listed as "Jaws Grex" . This is incorrect as the flytrap does not have ANY jaws in it whatsoever, It is a flytrap called Big Jaws, which is not related to "Jaws" and is probably crossed with "Dente".
The seeds of this plant were sent to a tissue lab 2 years ago by me in the hopes of producing a very large growing flytrap commercially and should not have been released to this nursery without my knowledge.
At any rate please do not label this plant as "Jaws" as it will be incorrect.
How do you know for certain it is 'Jaws'?
The one I've had for about 2.5 years was cloned from a plant direct from the source Ed Read at CSUF. Except for the first year I had it, it seldom grows the "shark's teeth". Looking at it now, you wouldn't know it was 'Jaws' despite its provenance.
From 2 years ago:
Grand Hotel... always the same. People come, people go. Nothing ever happens.
Not sure if this is part of the Jaws cultivar description but in your last picture I see mini teeth in between the big teeth. "jaws" is the only cultivar I've ever noticed that on.
