Photos of my flytraps 3-27-2010 Part 1 (picture intensive!)

I uploaded a ton of photos I took today here:

Fuzzy Tooth
The trap with the fuzed teeth is actually from last season. All new traps are coming up fairly normal. Fusing gets more pronounced as the season progresses.

Red Plant I raised from seed
It's the deepest red plant I've ever seen.

Here it is next to an all green clone called Grün (which I like better than Justina Davis because it has more vigor and larger traps from what I can tell).

Fused Tooth
Notice how the new traps are much larger than the old ones and they're not showing and fusing. The fusing comes later in the year.

Grün looks like a really great clone! 'Justina Davis' has been fairly slow for me and my flytraps have been lacking. :-(

Are you growing some of your plants in styrofoam cups?

Grün is a great clone. I like it much better than Justina. It's much more vigorous for me and I haven't seen it blush pink like I sometimes see on young JD traps.

Wow, those VFTs are awesome. :) Especially that red clone.

Nice, I like that red seedgrown plant. Such a deep reddish purple.

must have pink venus

Very nice.

Very nice. What kind of soil are they in? What kind of light do they receive?

Very nice.
Thanks!

Soil mix is 50% peat, 30% silica sand, 20% perlite. They get good light in the greenhouse all day. The sun is directly on it from around 9am to 3pm (this time of year). They're under a 20% white shade cloth to prevent the greenhouse from getting too hot. I water them very sparsely and keep them in deep pots. I think that keeping them a bit dryer allows them to develop better root systems and rhizomes.

Fantastic. They are all so healthy. And that red seed raised is jaw-dropping. Nearly black on my screen.

Beautiful, and so early in the season!

Mine will be a mess for a few more weeks, after a ton of recent replanting . . .

Thanks! Yes, it's quite dark. I love it!

I just finished all of my repotting a couple of weeks ago now. They're taking off quite well, especially last 10 days or so. Now I have to get to potting up a ton of tissue cultured plants in need of deflasking. The potting never stops!
