Unusual trap

Several years ago, I found this trap on one of my VFTs:

The other day, I noticed a similar but different trap developing. Here it is, open & fully formed:

When I noticed the small bug in the center of the trap, I tried to ease it out. Nope - the trap is at least somewhat functional:

.... and here's what I saw when I first noticed it:

That is AWESOME. Is it created by the same plant?

Coolest looking trap EVAH!

Whoah......that is AWESOME! :-O

A heart....
It loves you Ron.....

I have to say, that's gotta be the coolest VFT trap EVAH! :)

that really is one of the coolest flytraps ive seen!

Have you treated it with a fungicide recently? I get trap growth like that whenever I apply a fungucide (double headed traps, traps inside of traps). I actually had a Siamese ceph pitcher once.

That's straight funky and cool! I wonder if it would close around prey effectively.

You can see from the 2nd pic that the prey would probably get captured. Based on how quickly it closed to that size from the 1st pic, I suspect (aka: I'm guessing) that if it had a struggling insect inside constantly triggering the hairs, it would get quite tight ...
