i have 4 vft's planted in an 8" pot, and 2 more in a 3" pot. now, let's say that one of the plants catches a bug. it closes, digests said insect, and everything is cool...

do the nutrients from the digestation of the insect get put into the soil, and there for benefiting all the plants, or is the vft that caught and digested the insect the only one that gets "fed"?

    does anyone really know?

    thanks!

uh no. roots don't put stuff in the soil it takes out... in this case water since minerals and stuff is bad for the delicate root system of cps and should not be in the soil. each plant for it's own!!

The vft processes the nutrients from the digested insect and stores the excess engery/food in the corm/bulb for later use. This stored energy allows the plant to survive during dormancy and periods when it catches no insects at all.

The nutrients from the insect is also used to product new growth.
