I don't think that this is normal; when the new leaves pop up, they're aren't suppose to be torn. This doesn't happen when the traps are growing so rapidly. Maybe its something else thats causing this like leaf-eating insects.
The leaves do not appear to be chewed on! You can actually see the tear, I would be able to put the two torn bits together like a puzzle piece. This seems to happen once the leaf is extended, but before the trap developes. Hmm, strange!
