On one side of one trap on my small VFT, there is an extra fourth trigger hair, right next to the bottom one. Seems pretty cool to me, but I wonder if it still works the same. I'll get pictures up later; it's late right now.
No it is not rare, although it is not the standard, it is not uncommon. In fact my vft has four hairs on each lobe. It functions exactly the same, it just becomes more sensitive. From what I have heard, as many as six hairs on each lobe have been reported!
One of my seedlings which I call "semi-upright super giant" has been routinely producing 7-9 triggers per trap. I have never looked for or even noticed this trait until this thread.
