Went on a hike yesterday,

Hello,
I went hiking yesterday, and in a small area under a large oak tree, I saw a little grove of ferns! I was thinking of digging one up, but i have no idea how to care for them! Any suggestions?

I dug up a fern from around my place last summer and it did fine in simple houseplant conditions. I used the soil it originally grew in. It didn't seem to care about humidity or anything. I don't think it is a particularily sensitive plant.

most ferns enjoy constantly damp, but not wet soil.

You mentioned you found them under a tree. They also enjoy shady conditions.

If you post a picture of your fern, maybe we can identify it =D.
