I remember loosening the cube top on my prim when I got it home and the next day the leaves had dried and shriveled up. I guess they need high humidity 'eh?

They probably needed more time to adjust to lower humidity. Gotta keep in mind they are suffering from lack of proper conditions & care as well as shipping stress from the greenhouse to the store and the store to your house. That's a lot of changes for something that is ment in nature to stay in one place its whole life.

I've never had a P. primuliflora leaf sprout a new plant, but that would be way cool if you get it to work. The Mexican pings sprout from leaves very well, exxcept for P. gypsicola.

Jim look a here, I got it to work. This came from the only piece of leaf that was left after the plant had died. Took what seems like forever but at least the little plant is trying to make a come back. I re potted it this morning and now I'll see what happens.

This is one Ping I can not keep alive at all. I tried 3 times growing P. primuliflora.
One in equal parts perlite, peat moss, and LFS.
One in the same mix but I read where it likes it very wet, so I kept the water just under the soil.
One in live LFS and I could not grow any of them, for the most part.
I can grow them usually over the summer, but when fall comes the plant dies. Actually rots, even if I keep the soil almost dry.

The Mexican Pings are so much easier to grow. I have not had any problem with any of these.

are you serious? You have a heaven for neps and the P. primuliflora can't grow there? Please tell me this is a joke. :p lol! I am just flabbergasted. Please understand, I am not trying to make any fun of you...but, I am just amazed by how well you can grow all those neps. The P. primuliflora in my opinion is magnitudes easier than them .

I got a small P. primuliflora in a lowes cube. In 2 months, It was making 3 plantlets. Then .. it flowered...4 tflowerstalks.

Later it started making more offshoots. I had like 15 or so offshoots at a point. This thing is as tough as a rock. I give it soo little consideration. When I removed stuff from my terrarium and gave each plant their pot...I took out some mm sized cuttings and threw them in a corner. Even they were able to get a roothold and come back.

Well...I don't have too many pics of it in between as i really didn't bother documenting it as I do my VFTs and neps.

this is the latest pics: 8 months after getting this plant. I also spotted a couple more offshoots under its leaves. there are like 6 offshoots right near it, in this pot. In my B52 pot..there were 2 big offshoots which started 4 months ago. I gave one of them away to a friend who wanted. I also gave a small one away to a newcomer at CP's on the ocps. lol! this thing is my "giveaway plant".

These grow in just the same mix as my VFT's. peat + perlite. nothing fancy.

When I got the plant in the lowes cube, I took it back home...removed the top, put it in my terrarium and it started growing. Didn't even loose a leaf.

This plant is seriously not at all fussy. THere must be something wrong. Do try it out again....its seriously a very easy and very rewarding plant.

Mine came from 90% humidity right down to 50% and it is growing again,
it is in a peaty perilite mix that is pretty wet and in hawaii it flowerd alot and it is even doing it in oregon :) It is big now so size does matter for survival.

JM are you growing inside or outside? Right now mine is inside under flow lighting and humidity's running around 40%. Not sure if this had anything to do with it bouncing back, but I don't keep it setting in water, I water it maybe once a week. (if I remember). Maybe my neglect has been the success. ???

I can't seem to kill these guys. I got a cube from lowes about 3 months ago and now it's flowering like crazy. Since then, it's made 50+ plantlets. I have them growing everywhere in numerous conditions and the only ones that have died are the ones I didn't do a good job transplanting. Some are growing outside both wet and dryer conditions. The mother plant grows inside under dryer conditions, but I have a tub of babies that lives in soupyish soil :)

In hawaii full sun all dya long here in a windowsill,it is putting out leafs happely,
I don't have any pots,so I used a baby food jar from my TC stuff :-D
So I need to buy like 50 3 inch pots but for now it is doing great,
If youwan't to get plantlets put peat Around the old leafs slightly covering them it worked for me but does not work with my strange pot.
I am getting in a CP bog in shortly so stay tuned :)
I am going to tc more but I am not going to rig it like
kast time now I can order and get free shipping unlike hawaii
